Well, solution exits: When "payers" are done, just pull group of enemies to end chest (and make sure it stays there). Or get him repeatedly killed till hes 60DP and then quit.

Problem is that scammer still gets credit for dungeon and still gets chest reward.

CoF run is easy money for those doing the run, as well as those getting ran. It is a three level dungeon, that has lots of chest, hidden treasures, and decent drops. You pay @ 2k, for the run, the quest reward is 1.5k, so a good run last about 45 minutes irc and after you pay the runner, you are up around 5-10k profit, maybe more if you get a rare drop.

The scam part is a person refuses to pay on the third leve, really cheeses the runner off. Runner loses that 2k for the run.

Hope that helped

Just pick up all your drops and he will get nothing from it. If no drops are left over he gains nothing from it except pissing of people.

Congratulations on starting a thread because someone hurt you a little.

This is not scamming. It is griefing.
Do you really expect better when doing degenerate things like this run over and over? Who really needs people to do it. You have odd ideas of group play and fun.

And you warned nobody, you just vented your anger. Nobody knows who angered you, except people really bother to message you to get this "vital" information.

Why would people scam anyways?
Satisfaction from oh I took advantage of that moment?
A lot of scammers run the "Pay up front" scam.

So I can understand players not wanting to pay up front.

I have no sympathy for scammers, nor any for runners. The two deserve each other's company.

I was with a runner when someone tried the scam, they went back and got him killed and then I said to them I was going to bed and I'd leave myself in the dungeon. The person pm'd me after about 5 minutes a couple of times then when I didnt reply (Id gone to bed after all ^.^), they Raged... I was playing and chatting on another account with the runner while he was doing it.. Multiple accounts ftw ^.^

Although I can do the run, I only run myself or friends just because I dont like a load of wannabes telling me how bad I am coz I died once ( usually the ones who are so close up the runners a$$ as to mess up the aggro).

I reckon it's still a pretty pathetic thing to bother doing for the sake of 2k, but ANET probably didn't want the dungeon to be ran so I don't see them doing anything about it....

Why is it that some people have such a limited imagination they believe that only the way they play can be fun? Guild wars is set up for a variety of styles -including the ability to run or be run through certain areas because some people enjoy that. Get over it.

To the OP - perhaps runners should begin their own website with a good/bad list of customers.

Rahja, you've been playing for awhile and I'm sure you have a large network of friends ingame. That's probably the best weapon you can use against the scammer. Get the word out to the other runners and he'll have a tough time finding a group.

Stuff like this happens in almost ANY online game. And you have ways to report them. It's called Support and /report.

Like others have said, stop whining about principle this or that. Principle is non-existent in the online world. If you really want to clean up the scammers etc, you can apply to Anet, get hired and then crackdown on all the bots, scammers etc. You're just waiting your time fuming about being scammed etc.

Everyone, or mostly everyone, has been scammed some way or another in-game. It's just a facet of GW life. Like OMG the 600 monk didn't split the sole Ecto in a duo UW run, when we both agreed it was 50-50. Like OMG! Give me my 2.5k or whatever. Scammer! OMG I'm so mad!

Wow...........................

It's just a lowly ecto. A pitiful 5k. Big deal. Go do another UW run, get back what you "lost."

Hey TC, how much money do you have anyways? I'd be more sympathetic if you were some guy starting out GW and go bonkers for having like 50k. However, if you know how to farm or played this game since beta or whatever, and you're whining about losing literally CHUMP CHANGE to a guy and preaching about principle, I just have to

LOL @ j00.

Meh I really haven't had too much trouble with scammers in CoF. I mean..you gotta be really sad not to be able to cough up 2k imo.. Which you make all that money back and then some in the end of it all. It's always a frustrating thing when it happens, especially since I split the profits with my smiter but it's something I do knowing it can happen and just deal with it :/ either way I make some good mo-la And yeah if your THAT worried about scammers go go hero solo -__-;

Not to be a total jerk, but this is simply the risk you accept by being a runner.

If you do not implement controls to get paid by everyone (which is exceedingly difficult given the number of so-called runners that charge without delivering the service), you simply have to assume that you are going to lose out every once in a while to someone that doesn't pay.

Other than not paying the fee you were hoping to get from him, I don't see where he "stole" from other players...he simply picked up their discarded items. Honestly, if I were getting run (which I would pay for), I would follow a similar strategy...AFK and pick up all the discarded items to "make up" for some of the fee I paid.

well, i sympatize with the op too, but i dont htink there will be a solution even if we get a scammer tab, we have a leecher report and still even if i and all 6 members of the party report to anet with pics and e-mails reporting the leecher nothing is done to them, they ignore it or leave it be, i had this more than once and the leecher still leeching and not even banned for a week or something, i think the same would be done with scammers reports

I agree with the above posters. Like I said, you could have all the report functions and ideas all you want. Let's say everyone sends in reports to Anet complaining. Anet will/might look at it and if the amount scammed is like 1k, 2k, etc Anet will do nothing.

The MOST anet will do is suspend an account for 24 hours. Oooooooo 24 hours? OMG that's like the end of the world! /sarcasm. 72 hours? Bah. Anet rarely permabans.

All you have to do is keep quiet and then leave or whatever. Anet cannot do ANYTHING about that. For all they know, we just got disconnected or went afk all the time. Unless it goes widespread like it did in AB etc, will Anet then step up and enforce things. So that guy who went afk and waited for you to leave, good for him, sucks for you. You can preach principle all you want, but you're talking to air.

I've taken Ectos and Shards that players DROP on ground because they are too lazy to open trade. Fortunately for me, I got to pick it up before the intended person got to it. I got berated by the party, while I LOLed and chatted on GC. Once you drop ANYTHING on the ground, it is LEGAL TENDER for ANYONE to pick up. Rule of thumb: NEVER drop anything you want. Once you do, all the screenshots, confessions of evil intent whatever means NADA to Anet. Support people will just LOL at you the noob for losing your goods.

A scam or two of 1k 2k in PVE (emphasize PvE) means NOTHING. The only things Anet concerns themselves with in PVE is MASS duping, botting etc. On the other hand, anything PvP, Anet is all over it in an instant. Just look at the "deaths" of like half the professions.

If you noticed the other option of pay half right now and pay half later, that's fair imo. I trust you to pay half in the end you trust me to give me half at the beginning equal trust. And seriously it's only 500g for half the payment in NM.

It's always the risk you take with runners. ANet won't really do anything about it because runs walk along the same line as Texmod: they don't condone nor support it.

/shrug. Tough luck, it happens.
